Located 15 minutes east of Rodez, the village of Montrozier has a particularly well-preserved and rich archaeological heritage : a prehistoric stone shelter, dolmens, a Gallo-Roman villa, castles…
The departmental archaeological center is a unique site dedicated to archaeology and promoting the archaeological heritage of the Aveyron. It is also a hub for research exchanges. It is an exhibition space : with connections to the ongoing departmental archaeological research teams, it presents exhibitions that relate to ancient Rouergue from prehistory to the present day by highlighting their finds.
It is also an interactive space that offers an introduction to archaeological digs, educational workshops, film screenings and visits to archaeological sites.
> Exhibition area: history of the Rouergue of old, from Prehistory to modern era, through archeological studies and recent findings on the nearby archeological sites.
> Activities area: initiation to archeological investigation, workshops, video films shows, archeological sites visits.
Study tours and visits of archeological sites are offered on appointment
