The Minerve Museum of Archaeology and Paleontology invites you on a voyage through time. Created by local scholars and inhabitants of the village, the Minerve Museum displays fossils collected by Jean Miquel de Barroubio. It also provides an overview of human settlement in the Cesse and Brian valleys, and in the Minervois, since prehistoric times. Paleolithic flint tools, Neolithic pottery, ornaments from the dolmens of the region, everyday objects from the time of the Gauls to that of the Visigoths, but also ceramics and glassware from the 17th century reflect a rich history. On the first floor, an exhibition traces the finds excavated during the renovation of the ramparts. The various archaeological projects undertaken in Minerve unearthed exceptional finds bringing to light a site that dates back 6000 years. The museum also offers a guided tour of the 11th-century Roman church that houses an altar table dated 456 AD.
