During the Gallo-Roman era an immense villa in a place called Chiragan was built on the banks of the Garonne. Successive excavations of the site have yielded exceptional pieces which for the most part can be seen in the Saint-Raymond Museum in Toulouse. There are also replicas are in the Martres-Tolosane Museum: a copy of “L’Athena et Marsya de Myron”, a replica of the “Vénus de Cnide de Praxytèle”, reproductions of busts of Auguste, Trajan, Marcus Aurelius, Sévère the Seventh…
