Musée d’art Hyacinthe Rigaud
Perpignan | 66
Renovated and enlarged in 2017, the Hyacinthe Rigaud Art Museum was set up in two mansions in the city centre : the hôtel de Lazerme and the hôtel de Mailly. It exhibits exceptional collections from the fourteenth through to the twenty-first century.
Thanks to a permanent collection rich in masterpieces, the visitor will learn about the history of Perpignan and the great artists who left their mark on the city notably : Hyacinthe Rigaud, Maillol, Dufy, Terrus, Picasso, Lurçat…
The museum addresses three major themes :
- Gothic Perpignan, the continental capital of the Majorcan Kingdom
- Baroque Perpignan, where territorial disputes were played out between the French and the Aragonese
- Modern Perpignan, overwhelmed by the evolution of technology and global conflicts
