Musée des arts précieux Paul-Dupuy (Precious Arts)
Toulouse | 31
In 1905, Paul Dupuy (1867-1944) acquired and restored the former Hôtel Besson in order to provide an appropriate setting for his collections and eventually to create a museum there which, during his lifetime, would bear his name. It became a municipal museum in 1948 and went on to become the Museum of Decorative and Graphic Arts of the City of Toulouse. Today it represents a very large collection of works covering a period from the Middle Ages to 1939.
In November 2022, after more than 3 years of renovation work, the new Paul-Dupuy Museum of Precious Arts reopens its doors to the public. The new layout allows the museum to display its permanent collection in all its glory. It makes it possible to exhibit objects and entire collections that, prior to the restoration work, could not be shown to the public. This applies to the pre-cinema and cinema collections as well as the clock on the exterior of the building. The new rooms show the eclecticism of the collections, their rare value and their sometimes-quirky appearance.
Reopens from 10am, 16 November 202
