Nîmes | 30
Located opposite the Arènes de Nîmes, (the Bullring) the Taurine Heritage Museum is the first bullfighting museum in France to receive the label, Museum of France.
It is dedicated to two customs : the Spanish corridas and the Carmargue bullfights two extremely lively Nimes traditions.
The museum’s collections are made up of thousands of pieces : works of art, drawings, posters, photographs, vidéos and textiles and a whole series of objects from the most precious to the most humble from every corner of the world.
This huge collection, unique in France whose importance is at once scientific, historical, artistic and ethnographic consists of over 30,000 works of art and everyday objects that make up the regional and international bullfighting traditions.
Thanks to purchases, loans, and gifts, and in particular the generous donations from Henriette and Claude Viallat and the Friends of the Taurine Heritage Museum, the permanent collection is constantly evolving.
Every year it offers a new temporary exhibition.
