Musée du Vieux Nîmes (Local History)
Nîmes | 30
The Nîmes ethnography, and anthropology museum known as the Vieux Nîmes Museum was founded in 1920 by Henri Bauquier who sought to put all of Nîmes’ recent historical artefacts under one roof.
The collections of everyday items alongside extraordinary treasures offer visitors a the chance to voyage back through time : the textile collections from eighteenth-century manufacturers and traders, the origins and legend behind jeans, shawls, cashmere, donations from the l’Ecole de Fabrication de Nîmes, typical Nîmes and Cévennes furniture, religious artefacts, and régional pottery make up the exhibition.
