Thanks to this inveterate traveller, today the city of Toulouse has one of the oldest Asian art museums in all of France.
It houses one of the most beautiful collections of oriental art that spans over three thousand years – India, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Tibet, Nepal, China and Japan as well as a large Egyptian collection.
The Moorish pavilion and its garden filled with Asian and Mediterranean plants (azaleas, bamboo, palm trees and tree ferns) close to the banks of the Midi Canal and classed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) merits a detour!
