Immerse yourself in the opulence and beauty of the exceptional treasures dating from the third-century Gallo-Roman era. Made up of 28,054 coins, around fifty pieces of jewlry and precious objects, this is one of biggest collections found in France that is entirely intact. The tour of the collections is spread over three floors steeped in the world of Antiquity : statues, architectural decoration and objects put into their context illustrating their use in the everyday lives of the inhabitants of ancient Elusa, the capital of the Novempopulanie province.
The museum is one of three sites that make up the archaeological compound ELUSA Capitale Antique. This heritage landmark offers a wide-ranging and compelling overview of Roman culture. To begin the visit, start at the Interpretation Centre at the Domus de Cieutat. Aimed at teaching and entertaining at the same time, this space offers a fun, interactive tour. Don’t miss the 3D film which allows you to explore a wealthy quartier of this site and one of its opulent dwellings. Then head to the Treasure of Eauze / Archaeology Museum. Follow in the steps that led to the discovery of the most beautiful Gallo-Roman treasure ever found in France! Extend your visit by going to the luxurious Villa de Séviac country estate. There you will find a fabulous mosaic measuring 625 m² , the largest of its kind in France.
