Located close to the decorated cave of Pech Merle, the museum features the prehistory of Quercy region:
– 350 000 years of prehistory: discover how humans lived in the Quercy since the Neaderthals (middle Palaeolithic period) through to the Gauls (Iron Age).
- Cave art : an exhibition of the main decorated works found in the Pech Merle cave along with examples of objects that belong to the 30 other decorated Palaeolithic caves of the Quercy.
A visit to the Prehistory Centre at the Pech Merle, cave and museum takes you on a journey through time that is both authentic and moving. Located in the rugged Célé valley, 15 minutes from the village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, the Pech Merle site is of major importance in European prehistory.

To preserve the cave and its paintings, the number of daily visits is limited. It is strongly recommended to pre-book your visit on https://www.pechmerle.com. In July and August, during the holidays and long weekends reservations are required.
