Musée du charroi rural (Rural Transport)
Salmiech | 12
Located in Ségala (an area that used to produce rye) in the little village of Salmiech the Rural Transport Museum is housed in a former church. Its extensive collection includes examples of rural transportation as well as traditional local modes of locomotion and traction.
The museum is made up of more than 2500 objects. All of the pieces on show come from the region and the majority of them have been donated to the museum by the craftsmen themselves or by their families. Other items have been given by the Rouergue Museum of Salles-la Source. There are vehicles driven by hand or animal and around seventy wheels each with their own history as well as wheelwright and blacksmith tools.
